Deportivo Alavés, S.A.D., commonly known as Alavés, is a football club based in the city of Vitoria, Spain. It was founded on January 23, 1921, as Sport Friend's Club and currently participates in the Spanish Primera División since the 2023–2024 season. The team is known by its nicknames "Glorioso," "Alavesistas," and "Babazorros."
Alavés has achieved significant sporting successes, including four Second Division titles, four Second Division B titles, six Third Division titles, and one RFEF Cup. One of its greatest achievements was reaching the UEFA Cup final in 2001, where it finished runner-up after losing to Liverpool Football Club.
The club plays its home matches at the Mendizorroza Stadium, which has a capacity of 19,840. It also has sports facilities in Ibaia dedicated to player training and development.
Deportivo Alavés is part of the Baskonia-Alavés Group, and its majority owner is the Saski Baskonia basketball club. The club's current president is Alfonso Fernández de Trocóniz.
