Mbappé, Valverde, Osimhen, Pulisic & Co. - The most valuable XI from each continent

This summer's World Cup is taking shape - we know now all 48 of the nations that will compete in North America. Countries from across the globe will lock horns, with many of the planet's best superstars going head to head. It will be the biggest tournament in history, with the festival of football going from 32 teams to 48 teams for the very first time. With all this in mind, here at Transfermarkt, we have calculated the most valuable XI from each of the five continents of Europe, South America, Africa, North America and Asia.

The most valuable European XI

In between the sticks for team Europe is Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (€45m), who actually now won't be at this summer's World Cup after Italy lost in the play-offs to Bosnia-Herzegovina. The back four consists of four players from four different nations. Portugal's Nuno Mendes (€75m) is at left-back, with Spain's Pau Cubarsí (€80m) alongside France's William Saliba (€90m) at centre-back, and the Netherlands' Jurriën Timber at right-back. Spain's Pedri (€150m) holds the midfield trio.

In front of the Spaniard is England's Jude Bellingham (€140m) and France's Michael Olise (€140m). On the right-wing is the most valuable player in the world in teenager Lamine Yamal (€200m), with France's Kylian Mbappê (€200m) off the other flank, and Norway's Erling Haaland (€200m) through the middle. The most dominant nations are Spain and France - both with three players apiece. The Xi is worth a mind-boggling €1.39 billion.

The most valuable South American XI

For team South America, the goalkeeper position is occupied by the experienced Brazilian, Alisson (€17m). Two Brazilians and two Ecuadorians make up the back four. At left-back is Piero Hincapié (€50m), with his Arsenal teammate Gabriel (€75m), and Willian Pacho (€70m) at centre-half. Wesley (€40m takes the right-back spot. Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo (€110m) and Uruguayan Federico Valverde (€120m) are in centre midfield.

In the no.10 position is Argentine Enzo Fernández (€90m), with Brazilian Vinicius Junior (€150m) - the most valuable player in the XI - on the left and Argentine Julián Alvarez (€90m) on the right. Leading the line is Argentine striker Lautaro Martínez (€85m). Brazil is the most dominant nation wiht four players, with three Argentine and three Ecuadorians also making the XI, which is worth €897m.

The most valuable African XI

Team Africa begins with Cameroonian André Onana (€12m) in goal. Burkina Faso defender Edmond Tapsoba (€35m) and Ivorian Ousmane Diomande (€45m) are at centre-half. Moroccan Achraf Hakimi (€80m) takes the right-back berth, with Algerian Rayan Aït-Nouri (€40m) at left-back. In centre midfield is Cameroonian Carlos Baleba (€55m) and Senegalese midfielder Papa Gueye (€40m).

On the right-wing is Ghanian Antoine Semenyo (€75m), with teenage Ivorian Yan Diomande (€75m) on the left-wing after his recent +€30m upgrade. Up front is Nigerian Victor Osimhen (€75m) - who won't be at the World Cup - alongside Cameroonian Bryan Mbeumo (€80m). Cameroon is the most dominant nation, with three players in the team. The entire XI boasts a market value of €612m.

The most valuable North American XI

For team North America, the tournament's hosts, in between the sticks is Mexican Luis Malagón (€6.5m). USA dominates the back four, with Noahkai Banks (€22m) and Chris Richards (€25m) at centre-back and Sergiño Dest (€18m) at right-back. Although Banks has not yet fully committed his international allegiance to the USA and could still turn out for Germany. Canadian Alphonso Davies (€45m) completes the back four. In centre-midfield is the USA pair of Tyler Adams (€25m) and Weston McKennie (€30m).

USA's dominance continues in the wide areas with Malik Tillman (€30m) on the left and Christian Pulisic (€50m) - the most valuable player in the team - on the right. Canadian Jonathan David (€35m) and American Folarin Balogun (€30m) lead the line. Seven of the XI come from the USA and the entire team is worth €317m.

The most valuable Asian XI

For team Asia, in goal is Japanese shot-stopper Zion Suzuki (€20m). The back three consists of Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov (€35m), South Korean Min-jae Kim (€25m) and Japanese centre-back Hiroki Ito (€18m). In midfield is South Korean Kang-in Lee (€28m) and Japanese midfielder Kaishu Sano (€25m).

In right midfield is Takefusa Kubo (€30m), with Kaoru Mitoma (€25m) in left-midfield - both from Japan. South Korean legend Heung-min Son (€17m) is in the front three alongside the Japanese duo of Yuito Suzuki (€18m) and Ritsu Doan (€20m). Japan are the most dominant nation with seven players in the XI, which is worth a combined €251m.
